Andersen is one of the most popular window and door manufacturers in the country, offering long-lasting products for all types of home designs and performance needs. In this guide, you can browse Andersen by door types, materials, or Andersen collections — wherever is the most helpful place to start!
French Doors & Hinged Doors
Hinged or “swinging” doors are the most common door style. This type of door is highly customizable, adapting to any living space and available in a wide range of configurations — including in-swing, outswing, and single or double door options. A French swinging door features two panels made mostly of glass, and it’s often divided into individual panes for a traditional look.

Gliding Doors
Gliding or “sliding” patio doors are an effective space-saving solution, staying flush with the wall and moving sideways instead of swinging outward or inward. This versatile door type is available across every Andersen collection, allowing homeowners to choose based on which materials and styles they prefer.

MultiGlide™ Door
Andersen's MultiGlide Door is a large sliding door that functions as a glass wall system. The panels accommodate an expansive opening up to 50’ wide and 10’ tall, and straight stacking or pocketing options ensure seamless transition between indoor and outdoor living spaces. These innovative, aluminum-clad wood doors can also be installed with an interior and exterior keypad for easy operation.

Browse Andersen by Material
Andersen manufacturers their doors from varying combinations of wood, vinyl, fiberglass, and Fibrex® composite materials. This chart provides an overview of the materials used in each Andersen collection, and you can find an explanation of each material below.
Wood
Andersen is perhaps best known for their craftsman quality wood windows and doors that they’ve been manufacturing for over 100 years. The doors in every Andersen Series (besides the 100 Series) feature warm wood interiors that are protected by exterior cladding for better durability and low maintenance.
Vinyl Cladding
Because wood is prone to moisture build-up and decay from weather exposure, Andersen offers vinyl exterior cladding for extra durability and low maintenance. Andersen’s best-selling product line is the 400 Series, featuring wood doors and windows with vinyl cladding. The vinyl exterior, combined with a solid wood frame, results in better durability than extruded vinyl and better weather resistance than wood alone. Andersen’s 200 Series is a more streamlined collection that also features windows with the same combination of materials.
Fibrex® Composite
Andersen’s innovative Fibrex material is engineered to withstand extreme temperatures and provides a maintenance-free exterior that resists fading and won’t flake, blister, or peel. This innovative material is a composite of reclaimed wood fibers and thermoplastic polymers, outperforming extruded vinyl while remaining a budget-conscious choice. The gliding door in the Andersen 100 Series is entirely made from Fibrex. A-Series products also incorporate this proprietary material along with fiberglass to form durable exterior cladding.
Fiberglass
Fiberglass is a highly energy efficient and strong material that Andersen uses in conjunction with other materials to create durable exteriors. You can find fiberglass and Fibrex on Andersen’s premium A-Series wood doors, and the 200 Series Hinged Patio Door is protected by a fiberglass and aluminum exterior. It’s important to note that despite the similarity, “Fibrex” is a wood and plastic composite, not a type of fiberglass.

400 Series
The 400 Series is Andersen’s best-selling collection, known for its design versatility and long-lasting performance. The hinged and gliding patio doors in the Andersen 400 Series feature a customizable wood interior and Andersen’s vinyl exterior cladding system for protection against weathering. This dining area features an Andersen 400 Series Frenchwood® Gliding Patio Door.
200 Series
The 200 Series strikes a balance between quality and value by offering only the most popular door and window styles. 200 Series wood doors include hinged inswing doors protected by fiberglass and aluminum cladding, as well as vinyl-clad gliding patio doors in two variations: Narroline® and Perma-Shield®. Andersen’s 200 Series Narroline gliding patio doors have a minimal profile to expand the view, while Perma-Shield doors have a vinyl-clad interior for added durability. This dining room features Andersen’s 200 Series Narroline Gliding Patio Door.
100 Series
The doors and windows in Andersen’s 100 Series are engineered with Andersen’s proprietary Fibrex composite material — a long-lasting, fade-resistant material that is twice as strong as extruded vinyl but still low maintenance and budget friendly. The 100 Series features a simple, durable Gliding Patio Door that comes in a modern interior and exterior color palette.
