Andersen is one of the most popular window and door manufacturers in the country, providing homeowners with beautiful, high-performing products they can trust to last. You’re sure to find the right solution for any project among Andersen’s wide selection of window styles and materials.
In this guide, you can browse Andersen by window types, materials, or Andersen collections —wherever is the most helpful place to start!
Browse Andersen by Window Type
Andersen offers a versatile selection of high-quality windows for all types of home designs and project budgets. With Andersen’s products, homeowners can create living spaces tailored to their unique vision. Explore the most popular window styles sold by Andersen, and discover which collections you can find them in.
Single and Double-Hung Windows
Hung windows are the most common type of window in America. This classic window style often has divided lites or window grids that give it a traditional look. Double-hung windows have upper and lower sashes that move, allowing for ventilation on the top or bottom — or both. Single-hung windows only have an operable lower sash.
Double-hung windows are available in every Andersen series. Find single-hung windows in the 100 Series. Pictured here are single-hung windows from the Andersen 100 Series.
Awning Windows
An awning window is hinged at the top and swings outward from the bottom — allowing for ventilation while preventing rain from getting in. Awning windows are often placed higher on walls for privacy, or used in combination with large stationary windows to let in fresh air while creating a great view.
Find awning windows in the A-Series, 400 Series, and 100 Series. Pictured here are awning windows from Andersen’s 400 Series.
Casement Windows
A casement window is hinged on the side and cranks open outward to the left or right to let in abundant fresh air. This practical but pleasing window style is easy to operate and convenient for hard-to-reach places — such as above kitchen sinks.
Casement windows are available in the A-Series, 400 Series, and 100 Series. Pictured here is a series of casement windows with awning and transom windows from Andersen’s A-Series.
Gliding Windows
Gliding windows, also called sliding windows, have panels that move from side to side along a track with one stationary panel. Because it doesn’t have an outswing, this minimalist window style saves space and is a great fit for walls next to patios, porches, walkways, or decks.
Find gliding windows in the 400 Series, 200 Series, and 100 Series. Pictured here is the 100 Series Gliding Window.
Bay & Bow Windows
Bay and bow windows combine three or more windows that are angled out beyond the wall — providing a wide view and adding extra living space. While a bay window typically features three windows, a bow window often has more window panes and it forms a semicircle. Bay windows are often found in traditional homes such as Victorian-style houses or Tudor-style houses like the one pictured above.
Bay and bow windows are available in the Andersen 400 Series.
Picture Windows
Picture windows are stationary or “fixed” windows perfect for framing large views and maximizing energy efficiency. They are often used in combinations to let in a significant amount of natural light.
Picture windows are available in every Andersen collection. The bedroom pictured here features a combination of picture, casement, and awning windows from the Andersen 400 Series, along with an A-Series sliding patio door.
Specialty Shape Windows
Specialty shape windows are fixed windows designed in uncommon shapes — often paired with other windows or doors or used as accent features. Specialty windows add character and are highly versatile to complement the unique style and space of any home.
Specialty shape picture windows are available in every Andersen collection. Pictured here are Andersen A-Series Specialty Arch Windows, fixed above Frenchwood Gliding Patio Doors — also from the A-Series.
Browse Andersen by Material
Andersen windows are manufactured from high-quality wood, fiberglass, vinyl, and composite materials — meeting a wide range of aesthetic preferences and performance needs. See an overview of the innovative materials used in each Andersen collection in this chart, and browse what each window material has to offer in the sections below.
Wood
For over 100 years, Andersen has been crafting high-quality wood windows that are naturally energy-efficient and beautiful to look at. Each Andersen collection (besides the 100 Series) features warm wood interiors — protected by durable, low-maintenance exterior cladding for improved longevity.
Fiberglass
Fiberglass is a tough, weather-resistant material that is highly energy efficient. Andersen uses fiberglass in conjunction with their innovative Fibrex® composite material to achieve a durable, maintenance-free exterior for the premium wood windows and doors in the A-Series.
Vinyl Cladding
Andersen’s best-selling product line is the 400 Series, featuring wood windows protected by vinyl cladding. The vinyl exterior combined with a solid wood frame performs beautifully — offering better durability than extruded vinyl and better weather resistance than wood alone. The Andersen 200 Series also features windows with this combination of materials.
Fibrex® Composite
Twice as strong as vinyl, Andersen’s proprietary Fibrex material is engineered to withstand extreme temperatures and delivers a maintenance-free exterior that resists fading and won’t flake, blister, or peel. This composite material is made from reclaimed wood fiber and thermoplastic polymer fused together. You’ll find Fibrex throughout multiple Andersen collections.
Andersen’s 100 Series features windows with durable Fibrex interiors and exteriors, and Fibrex is used in conjunction with fiberglass on A-Series windows. Fibrex can also be found on the 400 Series Woodwright Double-Hung Window and is an exterior cladding option for 400 Series Bay & Bow Windows.
