Kevin is the General Manager of our flagship location in Darien, CT. This is his 4th year with the company. Kevin is one of many Veterans who chose Ring's End as a second career. He comes to us with 20 years of experience in the United States Marine Corps and a desire to use his prior training and experience to complement our company culture.
Q: Tell us a little bit about yourself and what brought you to Ring’s End.
I moved to CT after retiring from the Marine Corps in 2014, and began a career as a financial advisor. I didn't love the job, and realized what I missed most about my time in the service was camaraderie. I applied to Ring's End knowing they were a family-owned business that values culture. I've always enjoyed home improvement and woodworking, and hoped there would be an opportunity to apply what I'd learned in leadership roles through my time on active duty.
Q: What do you remember about your first day at Ring’s End?
It was COLD! Every new sales associate spends a month or more working in the lumber yard, familiarizing themselves with the material, and getting to know their colleagues. It was a brutally cold day for late March, and I'll never forget it.
Q: What is the best advice you have ever been given?
Be humble.
Q: What has stood out the most through your Ring’s End career?
How well company leadership treats employees. We have over 90 employees that have been with the company 20 years or longer. The company continually strives to find the best fit for each employee, and I have watched the company help employees through difficult personal events in their lives. We're large for a family-owned company, but small enough that our leadership and owners know every employee. That means a lot.
