Marvin Signature Ultimate

The Marvin Ultimate collection is indeed the ultimate in window and door design, offering colors, sizes, shapes, and materials for virtually any need.

Extruded aluminum exteriors can be shaped to closely match existing windows or create custom window and door configurations. Extruded aluminum withstands even the harshest climates. It has a smooth, consistent finish available in 19 colors, plus the option of special-order, custom color matching at the factory.

The Ultimate line also offers wood exteriors, ideal for creating architectural authenticity on historic homes for traditional designs. Six different wood species are available for window interiors. Ultimate’s wood interiors can be factory painted, stained, or left as bare wood to be finished after installation.

Marvin Ultimate sliding doors and casement windows with Cascade Blue finish

The Ultimate collection includes 11 window styles with 26 variations: single and double-hung windows, glider, awning, casement windows, picture windows, round top, hopper, specialty shapes, push out, and corner windows.

The Ultimate Door Collection includes bi-fold doors, sliding and swinging patio and French doors, commercial doors, and Lift & Slide or Multi-Slide doors for wide openings. Ultimate doors are often used to create custom glass walls that maximize indoor-outdoor living.

Grille options include both simulated and authentic divided lites, as well as between-the-glass grilles. Design options include sticking in multiple widths and designs. Since sticking (the profile machined into the frame), provides character & definition to the door or window, this customization can be important for reaching design goals.

You can see that Ultimate windows and doors can be ordered to complement any architectural style, whether historic, traditional, contemporary, transitional, or craftsman.

Why Homeowners Choose Ultimate

  • Design Customization: Ultimate offers unsurpassed design options, including custom window and door configurations, extensive color choices, and grille designs.

  • Hardware Options: Window hardware is available in 9 finishes. Homeowners like expanded options for door hardware found in Marvin Gallery Hardware, a curation of hardware from three renowned manufacturers.

  • Historical Authenticity: Wood exteriors and interiors make Ultimate the preferred choice for homes aiming to preserve historic integrity.

  • Window Sizes: Ultimate windows accommodate a wide range of custom sizes, ensuring homeowners find the perfect fit for architectural demands.

  • Door Sizes and Styles: Sliding doors are available across collections, but the largest sliding doors are available in the Ultimate line (up to 55’ wide and 10’ high). Additionally, the multi-panel Lift-and-Slide door is only available in Ultimate.

  • Combining Windows and Doors: Ultimate offers the most flexibility for combining fixed and operable windows with patio doors to create window walls that open for indoor-outdoor living.

When Another Line Might Be Better

  • Less Customization Needed: Some homeowners find that one of Marvin’s other lines offers specs that fit their project needs at a lower project cost.

  • Modern Design: Minimalist aesthetics or massive, direct-glaze windows align better with the Marvin Modern line.

Marvin Signature Modern

The Modern collection from Marvin is true to the principles of modern design while using futuristic thinking and advanced technology.

High-density fiberglass exterior frames have the strength to hold very large plates of glass and offer excellent thermal performance.

Extruded aluminum interiors feature a low-gloss finish. Choose from five interior colors with matching finishes or split interior and exterior color finishes.

Marvin Connected Home offers built-in automated technology, including voice-controlled windows and doors, customizable schedules, and rain detection and response.

The Modern Collection is a modular system where every product works together, creating consistent sightlines across all window and door styles. The collection maintains the clean aesthetic central to modern design with details like minimalist hardware and integrated mull channels.

Why Homeowners Choose Modern

  • Sophisticated Design: Minimalist hardware and narrow profiles offer a clean, contemporary look suitable for modern architecture.

  • Custom Sizing Included: Marvin Modern includes custom sizing without additional cost, offering the flexibility to create exactly what you need.

  • Availability of Large Window Sizes: High-density fiberglass frames have the strength to support huge expanses of glass, providing unobstructed vistas with minimal sightlines.

  • Direct Glaze Windows: The glass meets the frame directly without a sash for a simple, clean profile. Direct glaze is only available in the Modern collection.

  • Advanced Automation: Marvin Connected Home is offered only in the Modern collection, enhancing convenience and security.

When Another Line Might Be Better

  • Traditional Preferences: If your home’s architecture falls into traditional or historical styles, Ultimate’s wood interiors and extensive customization options may provide a better match.

  • Less Customization Needed: If the project requires stock sizes or smaller windows, one of Marvin’s other lines might offer specs to meet project needs at a lower project cost.

Mixing Windows From Different Lines

Usually it’s best to select one collection in Marvin’s portfolio and use that collection throughout the home.

However, in some scenarios, blending windows from different product lines can optimize your home's design, function, and budget. For instance, Ultimate windows might grace street-facing windows requiring traditional detailing, while Elevate windows might be used elsewhere. Perhaps the size of a particular fixed window requires the Modern line, but other openings are more standard, so the Elevate collection could be chosen for those windows.

Elevate windows paired with an Ultimate Bi-Fold Door

If you choose windows from different collections, keep these principles in mind:

  • Prioritize design coherence across the window collections.

  • Choose the same finish for the exterior frames.

  • Select matching or complementary hardware finishes.
