To install 15-lb roofing felt, start by positioning the roll on the roof and rolling it out, overlapping each strip by at least 4 inches.Secure the felt with staples or roofing nails, ensuring they are spaced adequately. Work from the bottom of the roof towards the ridge, applying the felt and overlapping it as needed.

  • Preparation: Ensure the roof deck is clean and dry. 
  • Placement: Position the roll of felt so that it can be rolled out across the bottom of the roof, even with the eaves. 
  • Rolling and Overlap: Roll out the felt, leaving the top portion free, and overlap the strips by at least 4 inches. 
  • Securing: Use staples or roofing nails to secure the felt, with fasteners spaced every 4-8 inches. 
  • Continuing: Continue applying the felt, overlapping each strip by 2-3 inches above the previous one. 
  • Trimming: At the end of the roof, trim the felt flush with a knife. 
  • Final Touches: Remove any creases or bubbles.
