DAP® FIRE STOP is a single component, neutral cure, gun-grade silicone firestopping sealant classified
for sealing fire-rated service penetrations and construction joints in horizontal and vertical fire separations.
It is an elastomeric, high performance sealant capable of meeting the joint movement requirements in a fire-rated joint. FIRE STOP meets ASTM 814/UL1479 and ASTM E1966/UL 2079 and is tested for up to a four-hour F-Rating at independent laboratories and is approved for both through penetrations and joint
applications.
Surface Preparation: Apply sealant to clean, dry surfaces free of frost, grease and oil in temperatures above 40°F.
Installation: Refer to the current UL/ULC Fire Resistance Directory for complete information or alternative approvals. The firestop system details will cover the required sealant depths, necessary amount of packing material and the permitted joint size or annular space. For exact “F” and “T” ratings and uses, ALWAYS refer to detailed drawings in the current UL/ULC Fire Resistance Directory or visit www.ul.com to access online information.
Product Application:
Cut nozzle at a 45º angle to desired bead size.
Puncture inner foil seal.
Load cartridge into caulk gun.
Do not apply to surfaces previously painted or treated with a sealer, curing compound, water repellent, or other coating without first getting confirmation from the coating manufacturer that their coating is
compatible with DAP® FIRE STOP Sealant.
Remove coatings as required. Normally FIRE STOP Sealant does not require priming for most
common building materials. However, some special surfaces may require a primer. We recommend a trial application before starting a project to test adhesion.
Immediately remove all excess wet sealant and smears with IPA or MEK before sealant cures. Excesscured sealant must be cut or scraped away. Use soap and water to clean hands and skin.
