As of April 22, 2010, in accordance with Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) regulations, contractors disturbing paint on pre-1978 homes or child-occupied facilities must assign at least one Certified Renovator to the job and that person must take refresher training at least every 5 years to stay current. Companies must also be registered as a Lead Safe Certified Firm with the EPA.
Individuals and firms that are not in compliance could face fines of up to $37,500 per day. This course is for individuals who have previously completed the Lead Renovator Initial Certification in compliance with the EPA’s Renovation, Repair, and Painting (RRP) rule. This 4-hour Refresher Course is required to renew your individual certification.
To be eligible to attend this class the Certified Renovator student will need to provide a copy of their initial training certificate BEFORE the refresher class begins and that certificate must show that no more than 5 years will have elapsed between trainings.
