Brandon Watkins has worked with Ring’s End for almost 16 years. Currently Brandon is the Paint Center Manager of the Danbury location. However, he initially started in New Milford in the lumberyard. Brandon worked there as a load builder and fork lift operator. He then managed the back warehouse. Brandon learned a position was opening up in Paint and he took the opportunity to talk to the manager about his interest in the role.

Brandon took the job in the Paint Department and was really excited to be voyaging into something new. He felt it was an honor to take on a new role and to this day is excited about the work that he does.

1 – What do you remember about your first day and week at Ring’s End?

Unfortunately I began work the day before September 11, 2001. I remember that on my first day everyone was incredibly friendly and welcoming. There wasn’t a lot to do after orientation so I decided that I was going to sweep the lumberyard. I went down every aisle and it took me a couple of days. I remember the foreman of the yard was very happy to have a neatnik on the team. As the tragedy on September 11th occurred I remember that everyone really banded together. As a new employee it definitely brought me closer to the team and brought us together as Americans and patriots. I realized that Ring’s End is a great place to work, is very caring towards their employees and is a family friendly environment.

2 – What is the best advice you have ever been given?

The best advice is to always treat customers as family. I have found that by doing that I am able to create an atmosphere of appreciation and fun. When you treat customers that way and they see us working hard and having fun behind the counter it makes you feel good. There is a level of self-satisfaction that permeates the store and makes it a great place to shop and work.

3 – If you could have a superpower, what would it be?

The power of more time. I want to make sure my wife and kids have the ultimate happiness and the ability to achieve their dreams and spend the most time with them that I can.

4 – What 3 words would you use to describe what it has meant to work at Ring’s End?

Love. Camaraderie. Fast-paced.

5 – What 3 words would your coworkers use to describe you?

Energetic. Funny. Loyal.
